The Church has a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) to provide adults a path to becoming part of the Catholic Church, or to become fully initiated members. They are informal sessions; an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about Church teaching or the process, and to meet the team who would journey with you.
The process is made up of several stages, each with rituals marking the beginning of a new period, leading to the reception of Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion. We continue to meet for a period after the reception of Sacraments, as our new members become fully integrated into the life of the community. In the coming months we will offer Inquiry sessions for anyone who is interested in receiving more information about the process.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Jen Schlameuss-Perry at the parish office 732-462-7429 or jperry@strobert.cc.
Children are prepared for the Sacraments of Confession, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation through our Religious Education Program. Confession and First Communion are traditionally celebrated during the Second Grade, and Confirmation is celebrated in the spring of their Eighth Grade year. Preparation for these Sacraments are a two year process, but children are expected to attend each grade of Religious Education to be ready for those preparatory years. Please see the Religious Education page for more information on these programs.
Adults who have received the Sacraments of Baptism and First Holy Communion in the Catholic Church but have not completed their Confirmation are candidates for the Adult Confirmation program. Interested parties should contact Jen at the parish office for information on the process for the reception of Confirmation.
